Schengen Visa Insurance

Schengen Visa Insurance

To apply for a Schengen visa, you must present a travel insurance policy that clearly meets these standards. This insurance is a mandatory part of the visa application documentation.

Key policy requirements:

  • Coverage: At least €30,000.
  • Territory: Valid across all Schengen countries.
  • Deductible: €0 — no out-of-pocket share for the insured person.
  • Coverage period: For a single-entry visa — the whole trip plus the 15-day grace period required by the EU Visa Code. For a multiple-entry visa — the days of the first planned trip; the application includes a commitment to insure each subsequent trip.
  • Mandatory medical risks: Emergency care, hospitalization, medical evacuation, and repatriation.

The policy must be issued in Latin script (matching your passport) by an accredited insurer, and printed for your visa application. Requirements may vary slightly by embassy — always verify with your specific consulate.
