Frequently asked questions

Quick answers to the most common travel-insurance questions.

Each insurer offers several coverage programs with different terms — typically Basic, Optimal, and Premium. They differ in payout limits and the deductible (the amount you pay yourself toward medical costs) — from 0 up to around $50/€50 depending on the program.

Basic medical coverage usually includes:

  • emergency medical care for illness or an accident during the trip
  • prescribed medication and necessary medical equipment
  • a hospital stay, including a few extra days after the policy's end date
  • emergency dental treatment (acute pain)
  • transport to a clinic or back home, and repatriation

Higher-tier programs add trip cancellation, lost or delayed baggage, sports risks, and other options.

For a short trip — a vacation or a few-day business trip — almost any coverage program works. For a longer stay abroad, the right policy depends on your trip purpose: tourism, work, study, and immigration all call for different terms, and not every policy fits every purpose equally well.

Multi-trip is a contract that runs 365 days but caps how long any single continuous trip can be — usually 30, 60, or 90 days. If you stay abroad without crossing the border longer than that cap, coverage stops the day after the cap is reached, even if the contract itself hasn't ended.

This kind of policy only covers sudden, acute conditions: injuries, appendicitis, acute dental pain, a high fever, and similar. It does not cover routine doctor visits, chronic conditions, routine tests, prescription medication for ongoing treatment, pregnancy care, or preventive checkups.

Multi-trip isn't a substitute for regular healthcare. If you get a residence permit, become a tax resident of another country, or obtain permanent status, the insurer may deny a claim by treating the contract as no longer valid for that period. For a long-term stay or immigration, most countries' migration services require local health insurance (e.g. NFZ in Poland or state/private insurance in Germany) — without it you can't get or renew a residence permit.

It's also important to state your real trip purpose — "Tourism," "Work," "Sport," or "Education." If you select "Tourism" but get injured while doing paid work, the insurer can legally deny the claim.

This is a policy with continuous coverage for the whole stated period — unlike multi-trip, it has no cap on a single trip's length.

It suits you if you're leaving once and staying abroad for a long time — for a visa, studies, or work. The maximum term for a travel insurance contract is usually up to 12 months.

Keep in mind: even a continuous 365-day policy only covers emergency, acute medical costs — like multi-trip, it doesn't replace routine healthcare or local health insurance. If your residency status changes (e.g. you get a residence permit or become a tax resident), the insurer may treat the contract as invalid, and long-term immigration will still require local health insurance in the country you're staying in.

You can file a claim through our chat bot on Telegram or Viber — our operator will help you file the claim and let you know which documents are needed.

To get a Schengen visa, your medical policy must clearly meet these standards:

  • Coverage: at least €30,000.
  • Territory: valid across all Schengen countries.
  • Deductible: €0 — no out-of-pocket share for the insured person.
  • Coverage period: for a single-entry visa — the whole trip plus the 15-day grace period required by the EU Visa Code; for a multiple-entry visa — the days of the first planned trip (the application includes a commitment to insure each subsequent trip).
  • Mandatory medical risks: emergency care, hospitalization, medical evacuation, and repatriation.

The policy must be issued in Latin script (matching your passport) by an accredited insurer, and printed for your visa application.

You can buy a policy at any time, but it won't start right away: depending on the insurer's program terms, coverage takes effect at least 1 day after the purchase date. So you can buy after departure, but it won't cover the part of the trip that's already happened. We recommend arranging your policy in advance, before you leave.

Your policy PDF is sent to your email immediately after payment. No waiting, no printing required.
