Health Minister Maxim Stepanov instructed to update the recommendations for the treatment of coronavirus for family doctors. He announced this at a briefing yesterday.
Do you need to take antibiotics for coronavirus
According to Stepanov, in Ukrainian medicine there is a problem of thoughtless prescription of antibiotics for coronavirus disease. Often, if COVID-19 is suspected, doctors prescribe several antibiotics to patients at once. Antibiotics may be prescribed even when the patient is asymptomatic.
Doctors remind that antibiotics should be taken only for bacterial diseases. It is not worth prescribing antibiotics for viral diseases without serious reasons. Such a medicine will not help with coronavirus, but the body will acquire antibiotic resistance. Then, with a bacterial infection, the antibiotic will not work and it will be very difficult to cure the disease.
